THE ILLUMINATI
Formed long ago by the Jesuits of Bavaria, the Illuminati have been forging a world where complex relationships matter more than freedom or Liberty!
The Jesuit Adam Weishaupt founded the movement on May 1, 1776, in Bavaria. The movement was made up of freethinkers and radicals, as an offshoot of the Enlightenment. Writers at the time, such as Seth Payson, believed the movement represented a conspiracy to infiltrate and overthrow the governments of European states. Many Historians believe that the Illuminati were the catalyst for the French Revolution.
The group’s adherents are given the name Illuminati. The group has also been called the Illuminati Order and the Bavarian Illuminati, and the movement itself has been referred to as Illuminism. The Illuminati is and was allowed to operate because many influential intellectuals and politicians count themselves as members and protectors of the order. Today in secrecy the Illuminati’s members pledged obedience to their superiors, and divided into three main classes, each with several degrees. The order has its branches in most European countries as well as North America; it reportedly has around 2,000 members.
The Illuminati has modeled itself largely based on Freemasonry, and many Illuminati chapters draw membership from existing Masonic lodges a practice they continue today.
